Following the success of the first international congress on archaeological plunder held in Zaragoza in 2021, the Government of Aragon, through the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage, together with the Historical Heritage Brigade of the Specialised and Violent Crimes Unit of the National Police, the Historical Heritage section of the Central Operational Unit of the Guardia Civil and the University of Zaragoza, has decided to hold a Second International Congress between 12 and 14 December 2024, bringing together some of the top representatives and best specialists related to the analysis and fight against archaeological plundering and illicit trafficking.
The aim is to analyse this serious problem within a series of actions undertaken by the Government of Aragon in relation to the plundering of Cultural Heritage.
El evento Beyond Restoration, organizado por el proyecto RITHMS, financiado por la UE, pretende poner de relieve el papel fundamental de los conservadores-restauradores en este ámbito. Este evento, que se celebrará en Bruselas (Bélgica) el 4 de diciembre de 2024, pondrá de relieve esta cuestión fundamental y analizará cómo los restauradores pueden verse implicados involuntariamente en actividades ilegales y, lo que es más importante, cómo pueden contribuir activamente a combatir estos delitos.
