Natural disaster prevention in libraries: a documentary analysis
2008 - J. M. Palma Peña

Much of the damage suffered by humanity's bibliographic and documentary heritage is the result of hydrometeorological and anthropogenic disasters. The lack of disaster prevention plans and programmes in Mexican libraries creates a need to develop and promote a culture of prevention, which must be addressed by disseminating the readily available information generated by organisations and institutions specialising in disaster prevention and the rescue of this heritage. The study presented here is based on a review of the literature in the field covering the period from 1998 to 2007.
