Adopted at the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in March 2015 in Sendai, Japan. It is the result of a series of stakeholder consultations that began in March 2012 and intergovernmental negotiations that took place between July 2014 and March 2015, with the support of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, at the request of the United Nations General Assembly.

The guide provides essential information to assist policymakers and other stakeholders in developing a framework for medium- and long-term post-disaster recovery in the development of a framework for medium- and long-term post-disaster recovery. This framework will help articulate the vision for recovery, define the recovery strategy, prioritize actions, plan the details, and guide and plan the details, and provide guidance on recovery financing, implementation and monitoring recovery. A collaborative project conducted between the UNESCO Office in Amman, the Raymond Lemaire International Centre for Conservation (RLICC) at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, the Petra Development and Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA), and the Department of Antiquities of Jordan (DoA), aimed at assessing and mitigating risks endangering the heritage values in Petra, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Comprehensive risk management is addressed in collections of the Marqués de Cerralbo House Museum, located in the city of Madrid (Spain) and belonging to the National Network of State Museums. This preliminary study focuses on the difficulties encountered throughout the author's training process within the framework of the Reducing Risks to Cultural Heritage course, seeking to bring the reader closer to this method. There are many museums and sites that today pose problems for the conservation of their works and installations: excess of visitors, space or air conditioning problems, excess pollution or vibrations caused by vehicle traffic, lack of funds or lack of conservation plans. These problems can be exacerbated in old museums, whose facilities have had to be modified to adapt to new exhibition and conservation systems.
