Venecia, ciudad costera única incluida en la Lista del Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad de la UNESCO, ha sufrido desde la antigüedad una serie de problemas relacionados con el clima, como la subida del nivel del mar, las mareas de tempestad que inundan la ciudad, la congelación de la laguna durante los inviernos más rigurosos y los incendios. A lo largo del último milenio, se han reconstruido los retos mencionados a partir de fuentes de distinta naturaleza, es decir, registros instrumentales, registros escritos documentales y artes visuales.

En este documento se analizan las estrategias adoptadas en el pasado; algunas de ellas han sido geniales y eficaces, otras necesitan mejoras. La lección del pasado ha puesto de manifiesto riesgos y puntos débiles. Las medidas de resistencia y mitigación necesitan más investigación y enfoques políticos novedosos.

It has been prepared for the purpose of disseminating knowledge and promoting support in recovering archives (repositories of memory) of the province of Manabí, in the framework of the "Local Capacity-Building Project for the Emergency Conservation of Historical Archives in Areas Affected by the April 16 Earth-quake (16A)".

Impact of Fire Extinguisher Agents on Cultural Resource Materials

Report resulting from exploring the impacts of fire protection agents on cultural heritage materials. The main objectives of the project were: to establish a reproducible test protocol that could be used for future testing and that would allow reporting and evaluation of comparable test results by disparate testing entities; to gather information on the responses of selected materials when exposed to the most commonly used portable extinguishing agents over the short and long term. This overview report is a compilation of two sub-reports addressing this topic, included in this document:

2) EVALUATION: "Evaluation of the impact of extinguishing agents on cultural resource materials".

El estudio de caso se refiere al centro histórico de Sevilla (España) y a las iglesias parroquiales construidas entre los siglos XIII y XVIII.
